Thank you for your letter of June 18th. I assume that it represents your honest opinion about my work—I appreciate it—and I can only regret that you are not the book editor of some other newspaper.

I cannot write for the Chicago Sun. If you want to know my reasons, look up the Chicago Sun’s review of THE FOUNTAINHEAD.[*] A newspaper which considers a review of this kind as honest or competent, must be judged accordingly.
