Dear Miss Harris:

Thank you for your nice letter. I am glad that you liked THE FOUNTAINHEAD.

Do not doubt the existence of integrity such as Roark’s. It exists in every person who chooses to make it exist.

Since you say that you wish you could know me, I am enclosing a printed letter which will give you some idea of what I am like. As you see, I am not “Mr.” Rand, but a “Miss”. However, I am glad that you thought that my writing was masculine.
