“Essentials of I part”
This very essentialized outline of Part I touches on only the most important events for each chapter of the first part. Although not dated, this outline is likely an early one, probably earlier than the two outlines which follow in this exhibit. Its abstract nature, in comparison to the later outlines, which get into more concrete details for each chapter, is one clue that it is earlier.
Other such clues include the fact that Henry Cameron is not yet named (he is identified only as the “old master”), and the notes at the bottom of the page, which indicate several other lovers for both Roark and Keating in this early part of the story, an element which Rand had already dropped by the time she worked on her detailed outlines of Part I (see the next two items).
