Dear Mr. Chambers:

Thank you for letting me know about Maurice Maeterlick’s opinion of “THE FOUNTAINHEAD”. I was very happy to hear it, and I am glad if it adds to the prestige of the Bobbs-Merrill list.

Thank you also for the copy of Mr. Robert S. Henry’s letter which you sent me. I am interested in railroads for the purpose of my next novel in which the railroad business will be an important part of the background. I will not be able to start research work for this novel until I am on my own time, that is, the free six months of my picture contract—but I expect to be free to start it in the near future.

Would you please thank Mr. Henry for me and tell him that I should like to meet him when he comes to Los Angeles? I would appreciate it very much if you would send me his two books, as you kindly offered.

Sincerely yours,

Ayn Rand
