Thank you for your letter. I was interested to hear from you and pleased by your request for a copy of “THE FOUNTAINHEAD. 

Yes, of course, I know who you are and that you had a great deal to do with the birth of functional architecture. When I was doing research for my novel, I read many accounts of your work in the histories of modern architecture, and I have seen pictures of your very interesting buildings. 

Under separate cover, I am sending you a copy of “THE FOUNTAINHEAD. I shall consider it a privilege if you will accept it as a present from me, and I shall be interested to hear your reaction, after you have read it.
