Dear Mr. Dugan:

Thank you for your courtesy in giving me the appointments which were the most interesting part of my visit to New York—and particularly for the ride in the cab of the Twentieth Century.

That ride was a magnificant experience. I will not attempt to tell you how much I enjoyed it. But I must report that your engine crews are a wonderful bunch of men. They were extremely nice to me—and it was such a rare pleasure, these days, to see efficient men in action.

Please give my regards to Mr. Borntrager. Now that I am safely 3,000 miles away, I can say that he is one of the most interesting men I have ever met, and I would like you to repeat this to him. The information he gave me was of great value for my particular purpose.

I am very grateful to New York Central—and I shall let my novel say it for me.

With best regards,

Sincerely,

Ayn Rand
