Thank you for your fine letter. I am glad if âThe Fountainheadâ was the first book that made you want to write to its author.
I am gratified that it has given you âa better understanding and perhaps more respect for buildings.â I had hoped that one of the effects of my novel would be to infect some readers with my own love for New York. I can say that I am actually in love with skyscrapersâand with the magnificent talent that made Americans capable of constructing them.
